I was startled to find that a sogn which was suposed to be 100% out of the right hand speaker for the intro now became 80% right and 20% left hand speaker, the same was with the MP3. i thik thought Hmm is this encoded file actually that much worse or is it cd quality. I had 40+ cd’s that i own encoded as MP3s because i couldn’t find an encoder to encode to Ogg, when i did find one finally i started to re-encode them all as Ogg, i couldn’t particuly tell the difference in quality between the two but i accidentally started playing the song from the CD rather than the encoded Ogg file. i have never encoded an Mp3 less than 256Kbps, i have never encoded a Ogg file less than 350Kbps VBR and most of my FLAC files run at about 600-1100 Kbps) Hense i will never pay for an online music download unless it is CD quality (and i’m not tlaking the “CD quality” MP3’s which are 192Kbps. I also don’t particularly like OGG for the same reason, although becasue Ogg is opensource and of higher quality than Mp3 i suport it more.ĪCC i hear is good but i fear it suffers from the same issues as all LOSSY codec with sound quality loss. Personally i hate Mp3’s due to poor sound quality and poor stereo definition.
